  • PromisePay is an online service that makes it easy to pay off your total balance and become debt-free. PromisePay works with the City of New Orleans and government agencies to offer interest-free payment plans for your debt

  • The City of New Orleans is partnering with PromisePay to offer an Amnesty Program specifically for individuals with parking and photo safety citations, giving eligible individuals a chance to pay what they owe without the burden of additional fees.

  • All motorists who have:

    • Parking tickets from before May 2, 2025, or
    • Photo safety citations from before April 2, 2025, Are eligible to participate in the program by signing up for a PromisePay plan.

    Note: Eligibility is limited to citations incurred between 2015-2025 due to a 10 year statute of limitations.

  • Motorists can enroll in the Amnesty Program from June 1 to August 31, 2025.

  • Motorists who enroll in the Amnesty Program will have all late fees that they’ve incurred on their eligible citations waived. Motorists will only need to pay the original outstanding citation amount with a payment plan as all other fees will be waived.

  • As long as you stay in good standing on your Promise Payment Plan and successfully complete it, the late fees will be permanently waived.

  • PromisePay payment plans are interest-free.

  • There is a $3.00 transaction fee for all payments made in PromisePay.

  • Your payment plan covers your past-due citation balance without any late fees applied, for parking tickets incurred before May 2, 2025, or photo safety citations incurred before April 2, 2025. Any citations that you incur after these dates cannot be included in your PromisePay plan and must be paid directly to the City of New Orleans.

  • New citations incurred after May 2, 2025, or photo safety citations incurred after April 2, 2025 must be paid to the City of New Orleans - you must continue to pay your new citations charges directly to the City of New Orleans. Your agreed upon PromisePay plan payments must be paid to Promise.

  • PromisePay plans are built to provide motorists with the flexibility needed for them to successfully complete their payment plans. If a motorist needs to update their payment method, change their monthly payment date, or request an extension for a given plan payment, they can do so. Please note that changes can be made as long as a payment is made each month.

  • Start a PromisePay plan and make all your payments on time. You also need to pay any new tickets from the City of New Orleans by their due date. If you do both, you won’t be booted or towed because of unpaid tickets. Towing can still happen during the amnesty period if your vehicle is illegally parked and creating a safety issue, blocking a street or sidewalk, or parking in a special event zone.

  • Yes, if you sign up for a payment plan with PromisePay, you are still eligible to receive any available community-based grants or other relief that you are otherwise qualified for.
